THE CUBAN REGIMEN DENIES HUMANITARIAN AID FROM THE CUBAN EXILE COMMUNITY

In the aftermath of the disaster left behind by hurricane Dennis in Cuba, the directors of the Fundacion Civica Martiana agreed to collect humanitarian aid such as food, medicine, and clothing for the Cuban people. Our foundation contacted Rachel Ramjattan of Caritas in Miami so they could arrange for the shipment and distribution of the aid to the Cuban people. Rachel contacted the Caritas representative in Cuba who informed Rachel that the Cuban government would not accept food nor medicine but would accept monetary aid. This attitude by the Cuban regiment demonstrates once more, how cruel a dictatorship can be, even knowing full well the deplorable conditions his own people are facing. Sending money would not be an immediate solution to this crises, as in Cuba, essentials such as food, medicine and clothing are scarcely available for sale.

EL REGIMEN CUBANO NIEGA AYUDA HUMANITARIA PROVENIENTE DE LA COMUNIDAD CUBANA EXILIADA

Tras el desastre dejado por el huracán Dennis en Cuba, la Fundación Cívica Martiana había acordado entre sus directores colectar ayuda humanitaria de alimentos, medicinas y ropa para el pueblo cubano. Nuestra fundación hizo contacto con Rachel Ramjattan de Cáritas en Miami para que dicha organización hiciera los envíos y la distribución de la ayuda en la Isla. Cuando Cáritas de Miami hizo contacto con Cáritas en Cuba, la representante de Cáritas en Cuba dijo que el gobierno de Cuba no iba a permitir la ayuda de alimentos y medicinas pero de dinero si. Esta actitud del régimen cubano nos demuestra una vez mas lo cruel que un dictador puede ser, no importándole la grave situación en que se encuentra su pueblo. Enviar dinero no sería una solución a la crisis, ya que Cuba carece de alimentos, medicina y ropa para venderle al pueblo.
